As Salaamu Alaikum Brother Imam (Amir): The issue of Spousal Abuse/Family Violence although very personal and very delicate must be openly addressed for us to continue to grow as a community.  Our communities no longer can afford to ignore the issue.  Your help from the rostrum can assist in bringing an end to physical violence in the home (hitting, using weapons of all types and sexual misconduct), emotional/psychological (harshness in speech, insults, false or invalid accusations, threats to harm children, relatives and pets), economic (deliberate refusal to provide the daily necessities, using money as a tool to force cooperation or as a threat). Your help is needed to end this type of criminal and un-Islamic behavior among Muslims, insh'Allah.  Can we (your community) count on your direct assistance?  Can we count on you to teach from the Holy Quran about the proper behavior in the home?  Can we count on you to be fair and honest with couples who come to you for counseling?  Can we count on you to assist those in our community (local and national) who are helping the victims of abuse who are mostly women and children?
